Annual Luncheon & Panel Discussion
Women for Women International (WfWI) hosted its second Annual Luncheon & Panel Discussion on May 12, 2010 in New York City. With underwriting from the Druckenmiller Foundation and leadership support from Co-Chairs Jewelle Bickford and Fiona Druckenmiller, and Vice Chairs Alexandria Stewart Altman, Lois Chiles, Sandra Meyer, Barbara Perlmutter and Diana Rowan Rockefeller, the benefit event raised over $620,000 to support WfWI's programs in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and Sudan. More than 400 guests attended, including the U.N. Deputy Secretary-General and U.N. Ambassadors from Bosnia, Nigeria, Rwanda and Sudan.
Zainab Salbi, Founder and CEO of WfWI, launched the discussion by highlighting the ongoing need for investing in women. "60 Minutes" Correspondent, Lesley Stahl served as the moderator of the panel discussion, How Conflict Presents Opportunities for Change. Panelists included Ophelia Dahl, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Partners In Health, and Robin Wright, Foreign Policy Analyst and Author of Dreams and Shadows: The Future of the Middle East.
