Lady Alison Deighton

Lady Alison Deighton serves as a Trustee for Women for Women International - UK.

Alison is a private investor with concentrated interests in US, UK and European property, technology and biotechnology. 

In addition to her portfolio of rental properties in the US, Alison is Managing Director of Italian property development and management company ALPA s.r.l, which owns and operates a hotel in Umbria, Italy, and Oasi Sarparea srl, which is engaged in the design and development of a mixed-use leisure resort in Puglia, Italy. 

Alison began her career in finance and general management. In 1983, she joined the Private Finance department of Goldman, Sachs & Co, New York, structuring and executing deals in swaps, alternative energy, oil and gas, LBOs and venture capital fund-raising. She then moved to London in 1985, where as Vice President of Foreign Exchange Sales, she was responsible for initiating and growing the bank’s foreign exchange and forex derivatives business. She left Goldman Sachs to become a Director of N.M. Rothschild & Sons in London, overseeing the firm’s US marketing of international fixed income asset management services. Alison has also held senior management positions in start-up technology companies, building their marketing and financial operations.

Alison holds a BA (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) in Economics from Brandeis University and an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1983. She currently lives in London and has dual American/British citizenship.

Alison is a long-time supporter of both the visual and performing arts and is a passionate collector of contemporary art. She is a Governor of the Royal Ballet, International Patron of the Royal Academy and Trustee of the Royal Academy Development Trust. Alison is also committed to the protection of women’s rights.
