Women for Women International primarily focuses on providing support and resources to women at the grassroots level, however, we also reach out to national and international leaders to raise awareness about the status of women in post-conflict societies. Women for Women International President and Founder Zainab Salbi meets regularly with both domestic and international policymakers, and our field staff around the world are regarded as experts on the status of women in their countries. Policymakers and others seek out Women for Women International for advice and briefings because of our first hand knowledge of women in post-conflict societies and our unique grassroots perspective.

In 1995, just two short years after the organization was founded, Women for Women International was honored by President William J. Clinton in a White House ceremony for our humanitarian efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since that time, we have continued to reach out to policymakers at the highest levels.
