Thursday 5th May 2011

Banqueting House, Whitehall, London

Women for Women International’s 2011 UK Gala brought together the organisation’s most ardent and valued supporters from the business and financial world, together with leaders from the Arts and celebrity guests.

The Gala opened with a cocktail reception sponsored by Iceberg Vodka, followed by a sit-down dinner catered by Rhubarb. Our Live Auction of money-can’t-buy experiences and pledge to Sudan was conducted by Lord Dalmeny, Deputy Chairman of Sotheby’s UK. We also held a silent auction of exciting and exclusive prizes.

We are thrilled to announce that over £800,000 was raised.

Guests were moved by the 2011 Women for Women International Gala Film. Watch now.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor gave a special acoustic performance to close the evening. “Today 75% of those injured or killed in war are women and children. As a woman and a mother, I am proud to support the work of Women for Women International; helping women in areas of conflict, who have often lost everything, to rebuild their lives and develop skills so they can support themselves and their families”.

Please take a look at the complete Gala Programme for detailed information on guests, partners and sponsors, and a full list of our Live and Silent auction lots.
