
Country Director, DRC
Rachel Boketa serves as the Country Director for Women for Women International – Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where she heads programs that have served more than 103,000 women since 2004.
Rachel joined Women for Women International in 2021 with 21 years of experience in the development and humanitarian sector. In the past 15 years she has focused on promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment, working with UNICEF, USAID, UN Women and Sida. Rachel has extensive experience in strategy development, program design and implementation, grants management, as well as monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
Rachel is a gender specialist, and certified GenderPro from the Global Women’s Institute at the George Washington University, and, has previously served in other leadership roles, including as Acting Country Representative for UN Women in the DRC and Deputy Team Leader with USAID. Rachel holds a master’s degree in Development Studies from the Catholic University of the Congo (Kinshasa, DRC).
