Privacy Policy

Women for Women International (WfWI) has a firm commitment to protecting your privacy. The following statement explains our policy in regard to the collection and use of any personal information you may give us as you use the U.S. WfWI website located at www.womenforwomen.org (the Web Site) or any of the services provided therein (collectively the Service).

Your continued use of the Web Site or the Service indicates your agreement to the terms of this Privacy Policy. Please do not provide us with any personal data that you do not want to be used by WfWI in the manner set out in this Privacy Policy. WfWI reserves the right at any time to change, modify, add or remove portions of this Privacy Policy to comply with any applicable state or federal regulations, to utilize new technologies or to improve your experience. If we change the Privacy Policy, the changes will be posted in this document so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information and to whom we will disclose it.

Information we collect

You may choose to provide us with personal information in a variety of situations. The Website may offer you the possibility to contact WfWI with any questions or comments or to make donations to WfWI through third-party websites. In this respect, you may choose to provide some personal information to WfWI. The type of personal information that WfWI may collect includes first name, last name, email address, postal address, date of birth, phone number, gender, and country of residence. In addition, you may choose to provide credit card (or bank) details to our payments processor in connection with a donation to WfWI, or may provide a description of your education and work experience in connection with a job opening at WfWI for which you wish to be considered.

In addition, we collect information about our users that cannot be used to personally identify you. This information may include the web site's Uniform Resource Locator (URL) that you just came from, which URL you next go to, what browser you are using, and your Internet Protocol (IP) address. We collect this non-personal information to help diagnose problems with our server and the Web Site, to administer and improve the Service and to understand the special interests and individual habits of our users so that we can personalize the services we make available to you.

Use of Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on The Website. Once the user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates. A "cookie" primarily stores information concerning your visits and preferences as to your browsing on the WfWI Sites, so you do not have to re-enter your settings when you come back to the WfWI Sites.

If you do not want information collected through the use of cookies, you can deny or accept the cookie feature using a simple procedure available in most browsers. Consult your browser's user guide for more information on how to do this. If you block cookies, however, you may lose some website functionality. WfWI may uses the IP address from your Internet connection to analyze trends, administer the site, track users' movements, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to any personally identifiable information.

How we may use/share your information

In the course of our business we may use your personal identifying information to generally communicate with you, handle and deliver purchase orders, process payments or donations, and otherwise provide other Services to you. In addition, we may share such data with our affiliates or business partners who are bound by privacy policies similar to this one and any agents we use to perform any aspect of the Service (i.e. using a third party provider to process transactions) who will only be permitted to use such information for such aspect of the Service. However, they are not authorized by WfWI to use such information for any other purpose or transfer it to anyone else.

In addition, we may share your data when required by law or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary in order to conform to the edicts of law or comply with a legal process served on us. In addition, we may disclose your personal information to law enforcement authorities investigating suspected illegal activity or to its legal advisors in connection with a suspected violation of this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Use. In addition, we may share your data in aggregated form to provide statistical user data about our subscribers to advertisers, potential advertisers, content licensors or other third parties who we believe can provide services or products that are useful to you. On our Web Site, you are given the opportunity to request that we not sell or dispose or otherwise disclose your personally identifiable information with any unrelated third parties, and if you so elect, we will not share your specific personally identifying information with such third parties to allow them to contact you about their products or services.

Links to third parties

The Web Site contains links to other web sites. By clicking on any of these links, you are leaving the Web Site. We have no control over the information collected from or about you by any third party after you have left the Web Site. This Privacy Policy does not cover the data collection and use practices of any third party that is linked to the Web Site. We assume no liability and are not responsible for any practices of such third party web sites, including their privacy practices or content.

The Web Site may facilitate access to certain social networking websites and other websites or services with user-generated content features. This may include click-through access to such websites, or activation of such websites when you make a comment or click "like" on the Web Site using a Facebook (or similar) social plug-in. The other website's privacy policy applies to any personal information you provide to that website.

The Web Site may also allow you to submit content for discussion forums, message boards and other public features (Public Forums). We do not restrict the distribution of personal information that you voluntarily disclose in these Public Forums, so please be aware that any information you disclose there may be collected and used by others. For this reason, we encourage you to refrain from providing or sharing personal information about yourself in the Public Forums. WfWI cannot prevent third parties from using such information in a way that may violate this Privacy Policy or applicable law.

Security of Personal Information

WfWI implements reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to help us protect your personal information under our control from unauthorized access, use and disclosure. Among other things, we use technologies and processes such as encryption, access controls, network firewalls, physical security and other measures to protect your personal information. In addition, when we work with other companies to process credit card transactions, those companies also use encryption and other security measures.

Retention of Personal Information

WfWI will retain your personal information for as long as needed to provide you services. If you wish to request that we no longer use your information to provide you services, you may contact us at general@womenforwomen.org. In addition, we will retain your information as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

Your Choices

If you decide at any time that you no longer wish to receive marketing communications from WfWI (e.g. newsletters or promotional emails), you may opt out by clicking on a link in the email you receive or by sending an email to general@womenforwomen.org.

You may review, update, correct or delete your personal information, elect not to receive future communications from third parties, elect and/or choose to no longer receive the Service by contacting us at general@womenforwomen.org. This e-mail must include your full name, address and contact information in the request in order to allow us to verify your identity. Please note that if you request the deletion of your personal information, we may retain an archived copy of your records as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

Children's Privacy

The Web Site is not directed toward or designed for the use by persons aged 13 and under. WfWI will not approve applications of, or establish or maintain accounts or memberships for, any child whom WfWI knows to be age 13 or under. WfWI does not solicit or knowingly collect personal information from children 13 and under if consent has not been given or authorized from a parent or custodian. If you are a parent or custodian of a child aged 13 or under and you believe WfWI has collected any personal data from or about your child, please contact WfWI at general@womenforwomen.org.

Notice to California Residents

If you are a California resident, California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits you to request information regarding the disclosure of your personal information by WfWI (including its affiliates or subsidiaries) to third parties for the third parties' direct marketing purposes. With respect to these entities, this privacy policy applies only to their activities within the State of California.
