Across conflict-affected countries, women faced displacement, violence, economic hardship, and growing restrictions on their rights. Yet, in the face of extraordinary challenges, they continued to lead, innovate, support one another, and create change.
In 2025, women and girls strengthened livelihoods, launched businesses, advocated for their communities, rebuilt hope after crisis, and proved that lasting change is possible when they are given the opportunity to realize their power.
CEO’s message: A steadfast commitment to women in conflict Â
There are moments in this work that bring both urgency and clarity into sharp focus. For me, the honor of taking up the leadership of Women for Women International at the close of 2025 was such a moment. As the first African CEO of this organization, I am deeply aware of the strength of the community behind this mission and the scale of the challenges before us.  Â
Across the globe, conflict is more widespread and prolonged and it is women and children who carry the heaviest burdens, as they so often do.  At the same time, the international development sector is navigating significant shifts as funding landscapes grow more uncertain. Some in our sector are grappling with uncertainty. We are not. Together, we are resolved to remain true to our mission and stay the course.  Â
Since I joined, my conviction has strengthened about what we do and why it matters. At its core, our work is about connection... about ensuring women are not isolated in their experiences, but supported, resourced, and linked to one another in ways that unlock their power and possibility. Â
We cannot do this important work alone. I am deeply grateful for your partnership. Whatever the next year brings, I know we will continue to stand alongside women survivors of war and conflict—investing in their strength, their leadership, and their futures. Â
