“We have never met women who said no to Russian soldiers, because they all died,” she said.
Anna Orel, our partner from The Andreev Foundation in Ukraine, spoke with iNews about the sexual violence occurring in Ukraine and our partnership to address the trauma many women are facing as a result.
“Russian soldiers, when they started to go to houses, they take their guns, and people can’t say no,” says Anna Orel, a worker from the Andreev Foundation non-government organisation (NG), which sent a mobile team of psychologists to Ukraine’s formerly occupied towns and villages to speak to survivors of sexual violence. “We have never met women who said no to Russian soldiers, because they all died,” she said.
