In an interview with TRT World Now, Amani Mustafa, Palestine Country Director of Women for Women International (WfWI) analyzes the recent Gaza ceasefire. She sounds a cautious note of optimism along with a sense of relief that Gazans feel after two years of constant bombardment—facing hunger, death and a total destruction of their homeland.
Women, in particular, who are the focus of our program are prioritizing how to access food, medical services and rebuild their homes. For WfWI, the first step is to ensure that our programs continue to be relevant under the current circumstances and are benefiting widowed women, orphaned children and women who receive psychosocial support from us via local partners—taking them on a journey of recovery and healing and that the crucial aid reaches those who need it the most.
It is important that women are consulted about what their future should look like.
