We are living through the most conflict-affected period in a generation. The World Bank estimates that more than one billion people now live in economies affected by fragility, conflict and violence. By 2030, nearly 60% of the world’s people living in extreme poverty are expected to live in these same fragile and conflict-affected settings. Yet despite the scale of these challenges, one of the world’s most significant growth opportunities remains largely invisible. It is not a new technology or an emerging market waiting to be discovered. It is the millions of women building businesses in countries affected by conflict.
